In July, our new members were treated to a delicious brunch under the shade trees at Jacksonville’s historic Beekman House. New conservation easement donors, Stan Dean and Katherine Bronwen, discussed why protecting their Colestin Valley land was so important to them and to the region’s ecology. Pat Acklin, former SOLC board president and our executive director, Cathy Dombi, talked about our mission and how conservation easements play an important role. The morning started with a tour and talk on the conserved City of Jacksonville trails, led by Jacksonville Woodlands Association executive director and historian, Larry Smith. We are grateful to all the volunteers who made the morning such a pleasure!
