When Artist Melinda Whipplesmith Plank discovered printmaking, she was elated. A close encounter of the loveliest kind at the Rogue River Preserve inspired a piece for her woodblock print Conservation Series. It is called “Where the River Flows” and is currently on display and for sale at the Hanson Howard Gallery in Ashland through the end of the year.

One of the smallest birds on our Oredson-Todd Woods and Rogue River Preserve bird lists, the Ruby-crowned kinglet is a tiny migratory songbird that graces Southern Oregon’s forests in the fall and winter.

Southern Oregon enjoys a rich legacy of scenic and historic trails. The Pacific Crest Trail, Oregon Trail, and Applegate Trail each play an important role in the state's recreational and historic value. Jeff Lalande and William Buck will provide a fascinating oral and visual tapestry, tying together these three trails and what they mean to Southern Oregon.

SOLC's executive director position is officially open. Cathy Dombi leaves BIG shoes to fill as she resigns from her journey with SOLC to embark on her next adventure. We are grateful for her accomplishments during her three years at SOLC.
