Join SOLC staff to learn about some of the small but mighty flowers found in vernal pool habitats! Land Steward Rebekah Bergkoetter will lead a group through the vernal pools at the Whetstone Savanna Preserve, one of SOLC’s newest properties, to search out some of the delicate seasonal flowers. This preserve shelters mounded prairie and vernal pool communities that include three threatened and endangered species. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn to recognize vernal pool plant species and what they are capable of.
SOLC currently protects more than 845 acres of vernal pool-mounded prairie habitat at six unique properties in our Agate Desert-Middle Rogue Focus Area. The Agate Desert, Whetstone Savanna, and Rogue River Plains Preserves were recently transferred to SOLC from The Nature Conservancy.
