Sam’s Valley Cultural and Natural History Tour

REGISTRATION will open on April 12th at 6am.

Judi Boyd, cemetery board director, will begin the tour with a presentation on the historic Antioch Cemetery which has operated continuously from the mid nineteenth century to the present. The tour continues on the adjoining 125-acre SOLC conservation easement property with owner, Art Coolidge. Get a glimpse of this privately owned oak savanna oasis. The easement protects many sensitive and protected varieties of plants and animals while managing for grazing in specific areas. Together, this block of land provides great habitat for visits of up to 40 elk, the Lewis's woodpecker, and soaring hawks which complement the extensive varieties of flora, including early spring blooms of the rare Gentner's fritillary. Geologic delights of agates and petrified wood have been seen while walking the land.
